I have to listen to something, it used to be a ticking clock would help me, but then I met this guy who snores and that seems to solve it! Honestly, it just takes your mind off everything and you breathe in and out and, it's soothing and that. Works for me!

I just think about my whole day. Sometimes i just make up senarios and see what i would do. I sing songs sometimes (in my head of course), but usually just think and try to imagine what i would do in another life, say to the people around me or even to people i dont know. (if that makes any sense at all) lol then again… it has been taking me at least 45 minutes to fall asleep! i am going to watch this carefully, i need to sleep faster!

Insomnia has probably always been with us. We have evidence of this particular technique, of counting sheep as they are imagined to jump over a fence, being used from 1854. That's from Seba Smith's Way down east; or portraitures of Yankee life:

I tried it last night but they kept me awake all night with their bleating in my bedroom.
The point of counting sheep is that it is a pointless and mindnumbingly boring task, that focusses your concentration away from the more interesting and tangled problems of real life, thus allowing your mind to gradually switch off.
HOWEVER, if you put too much effort into counting sheep, then it will become part of the problem, try a hot bath and a warm drink instead - you shouldn't be able to get too involved with those things!

i just wondered what type of sheep everyone else sees when they r trying to sleep. are they cartoon sheep or real ones? is it nightime or daytime? personally i see cartoon sheep lol and i asked a friend who saw real ones
