Is the sun responsible for bi-pedalism, i.e., walking upright?

Crown Chakra 3 Comments »

This idea is based on the notion that humans are much like plants, having a root system (the lower chakras in a human) and leaves (crown chakra in humans). Trees tend to seek out light, and they tend to stiffen and grow upright. Maybe the back in humans stiffens and raises because of the influence of the sun, also. The tendency for the spine to align with the influence of the sun would be the primary cause of humans walking upright..

This would mean bi-pedalism would also be found on other worlds that have suns. Having a sun would indicate eventually evolution into walking upright…
The Earth receives the most sunlight when the sun is directly overhead in the sky, which is evidence for this claim…
Also, keep in mind that it is a gradual tendency, occuring over millions of years…
Jiraiya: The sun is responsible for all life on Earth. It is rational to believe that it would be responsible for great leaps in evolution as well. At midday, the sun emits more light than at any other time. Trees tend to grow towards the sun. Humans also get energy from the sun, so it stand to reason that they would grow physically to mirror it's zenith in the sky. Your explanations are clever, but physics matters more in this case…And the physics of the sun being high in the sky is a fact one cannot ignore. Your ideas are mere speculation.
Also, walking upright availed humans to receiving more sunlight on their bodies, since their belly was not pointed to the ground and kept in shadow.
Furry mammals would not adjust to sunlight and it's position in the sky because they do not absorb sunlight through the skin. In the past, T-rex walked virtually upright, and this supports the notion that absorption of sunlight through the skin is necessary for bi-pedalism.
Paul: interesting that only creatures with bare skin walk upright, is it not?
It is true that T-rex might have had feather or even fur, but modern reptiles don't have those attributes. So, it is more likely that T-rex had exposed bare skin…
Sunlight is ubitiquitous, especially in Africa and that makes it a key evolutionary factor. Humans absorb sunlight through their skin, and that very significant.

Bipedalism is more likely to be a behavioural response selected for by evolution - possibly associated with environment (for example the ability to see predators over long grass). The drive towards bipedalism (or, in most quadrupeds, the ability to temporarily "stand" on their hind legs) may also be tool use; bipedalism frees up the "hands" for other things.

Your example using T rex walking upright to support your view that sunlight absorption through the skin encourages bipedalism is a spurious correlation - there is absolutely no way you can imply causality using an "argument" like that.

Your replies are interesting, and i agree: it's almost certain that juvenile T rex (and many other theropod dinosaurs) had feathers. But the adults may not have. And assuming that is true, then yes - T rex (and other theropods) would be a naked bipedal animal, like humans.

But the majority of modern bipedal animals are not naked, and several species are nocturnal: I'm talking about birds. Here we have a group which are exclusively bipedal, and which encompasses the planet (not just the hot sunny regions). There are several nocturnal species (for example owls, kiwi, some petrels), and Antarctic penguins live in a low light environment. Sunlight is not a major evolutionary stimulus to many avian species.

And using your argument, why aren't all modern reptiles bipedal?

Chakra tattoos?

Crown Chakra 5 Comments »

I want to get chakra tattoos in the exact locations they occur.
Even the crown and third eye chakras and the minor chakras on palms and feet. I was wondering if anyone could offer pictures of this being done before. Please don't tell me how stupid this would be… it is my choice, not yours. They make makeup I can use to cover the two very small facial tattoos.
This means a lot to me and it will not happen soon, I need a few years of planning, I would just really like to see how it looks.
Thank you and blessed be (*)
Btw, I also plan on getting a paw print on the back of my neck with SPIRITWOLF written in Elder Futhark… (Wolf is my spirit animal)
Just thought I'd throw that out there =)

Hmm. Interesting idea.

I would only caution that coloring them might be a poor idea. Most of the promulgated 'chakra color maps' are way off base. Chakras change colors all the time and open and close all the time. I'd be hesitant to put anything fixed into their sphere of operation. It might permanently influence how they operate.

And I'm also assuming you'll be doing the front chakras and not the back ones.

It's a very intriguing idea; I'm glad you're putting a lot of thought into it. I think tattoos should be very personal to the wearer ("Starland Vocal Band?! They suck!" D'oh!).

I've also discovered, that in most cases — when it's all said and done — the only one who really cares about your tattoos is you. My hard-thought out collection of too's usually gets a "oh yeah. huh." and that's it! I'm glad I got them for me!

Crown Chakra Earrings Sterling Silver with Pink Enamel Earth Solutions FMBA-AAA

The Hindu word for the seventh chakra is Sahasrana. It is positioned at the crown of the head. Made of sterling silver and enamel and approximately 1/2″ diameter in size , these Jeffrey David earrings were inspired by a Hindu design that is useful for balancing the crown chakra. When in balance the crown chakra connects one to the Source of all life. Our senses are able to expand beyond the physical plane of existence, giving us the ability to perceive life from a higher perspective. Sometimes referred to as the end of all paradox, the crown chakra lifts consciousness to a place beyond the positive-negative polarity and gives release from the judgement engendered here. There is an abiding sense of peace and connectedness to all that IS. When one exists purely within the five senses, without faith in some sort of Higher Power, life can seem chaotic and meaningless. This chakra is the place of transcendence, and an imbalance here may manifest in the form of brain, nervous system, and psychological disorders which can affect the entire body. To help balance the crown chakra it is necessary to cultivate a sense of connection with a force greater than oneself. Because this connectedness is so personal in nature, pursue activities that nourish your soul, be it time spent outdoors, enjoying art and music, attending church or meditating daily. If it gives you peace then it is of benefit to Sahasrana. Another technique to bring this chakra into balance is to relax oneself and visualize the color violet while repeating the Hindu chant AH. Hold your intention at the crown of your head and allow the sound to vibrate there. This exercise energizes the seventh chakra. Wearing the sterling silver Jeffrey David earrings will give further benefit. Gemstones that resonate on a harmonious frequency with the crown chakra are amethyst, quartz crystal, sugilite, celestite, and obsidian. The representative color is violet or pink and this chakra is of the cosmic energy element.

how to use an amethyst pendant?

Crown Chakra 1 Comment »

Well, I searched through the net for the meaning of an amethyst crystal.
It says that amethyst could increase spirituality, helps in meditating and something about psychic gifts and the crown chakra.

I bought an amethyst pendant and wear it but…I’m not so sure if the effect is used when I wear it.

if any of you know, please explain to me.

Amethyst in order to function must be worn near the heart. It gives you serenity and calmness..

As to how to use it, the crystal must be first attuned to you. Have you felt anything unusual while wearing it? dizziness, warm, cold, etc? If not, some says you have to sleep with it and cleanse with under the moonlight (best time is during full moon that’s why it is called as moon bath). Avoid sunlight as it destroys the colour of your crystal. Real amethyst fades when exposed to sun.

How do you feel yourself during a Reiki session?

Crown Chakra 1 Comment »

When you call Reiki and start to apply on the patient,
How do you feel your palm?
How do you feel your crown chakra?
What do you see while your eyes are closed?

*****REIKI PRACTIONERS ONLY*****

Bob, I am a Reiki level 3 instructor, and would like to help you out if I can. I am not totally clear about your question…What I think you are asking is what you feel in your own body when you are giving a Reiki session?

The answer is not the same for everyone. Sometimes it is not even the same from one session to another for the same practitioner! Some sessions I feel tingling or heat in my palms…or crown chakra. I have sessions where I feel nothing and have wondered if it "worked"…only to have my client tell me it was fabulous and THEY saw and felt things.

I sometimes have thoughts that come to me that seem to be "not mine" or just out of place for me…I gently express these to the client either at the time or after the session and they usually understand. It is important to be careful with how this is worded for your client…keep your principals in mind.

There are times when the flow of Reiki will feel like a sort of wave of energy flowing through my body. Reiki will flow more freely for me if I just open and get "myself" out of the way. It is stronger when a person really needs the energy a lot. I might feel the energy more when my hands are at that position where the client need it most.

When my eyes are closed sometimes I see colors like clouds (sometimes my clients say they see colors too) and sometimes I see nothing. I have a friend who has major visions when doing Reiki, but I don't (yet?). It is rather cool when the colors or aura are visible when my eyes are open!

I hope this helps. If you have been properly attuned don't worry about what you feel…just DO. As you practice it will become more clear to you and still sometimes you feel nothing in particular. It's just ok. Trust the Reiki.

Do you agree, without great inner peace the mind can destroy ?

Crown Chakra 8 Comments »

and it is therefore better for many individuals to not open their crown chakra much.

I must agree with you that inner peace of mind brings happiness and joy. Thus the mind has no capability to do harm to nature. The inner peace within every person will transform a peaceful environment which everyone wished and hoped for to happen. However, i do not know what you are driving at when you say not to open the crown chakra much. The crown chakra is the organ for the final synthesis of all the subtle energies in the body. It is the psychic organ for the reception of spiritual light or energy from the higher planes, just as the pineal gland functions through the regular reception of physical light. Are you referring to the chakra meditation?

Thanks for asking. Have a great day!
